Cipro info

Description

Cipro is used for treating bacterial infections. It may also be used to prevent or slow anthrax after exposure.

CIPRO is a drug that belongs to the family of drugs known as fluoroquinolones and it is use to treat bacteria infections. There are two types of cipro, one is tablet and the other is oral suspension.

Cipro tablet is called ciprofloxacin hydrochloride while the oral suspension is known as ciprofloxacin oral suspension. Both of which are use to treat cases of stubborn bacteria infections.

Cipro is mainly use in treating adults as the safety of its use in treating children has not been established.

This product is not suitable for pregnant women and breast feeding ones since it can affect their unborn or suckling. So don't take it if you are pregnant or will likely be, during treatment using ciprofloxacin tablet or suspension. There are some drugs that cannot be used along with ciprofloxacin. Such as antacids, sucralfate, vitamins and minerals containing calcium, magnesium and aluminum or zinc because these can alter the effect of ciprofloxacin. Therefore take these drugs 6 hours before taking ciprofloxacin or 2 hours after taking ciprofloxacin.

This drug is not for people under 18 years and should be used according to prescription strictly. Don't try to stop taking it even if conditions prove to be alright, because in most cases there will be positive changes yet the disease has not yet been cured. And try to stick to time of medication as prescribed but if you miss, try as much as possible to take the missed one immediately, unless if the time is close to the next intake. Don't ever take more than one dose at a time. Make sure you store ciprofloxacin under room temperature.

Overdose of ciprofloxacin can cause seizure. You should try avoiding staying too long under hot sun. Other side effects of ciprofloxacin are hallucination, joint and muscle pains, rashes and sunburn, liver damage and chest pain. If any of these occur stop the intake and contact your doctor. Other side effects can be managed and these are insomnia, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, lightheadedness and ringing in the ears.

Usage

Use Cipro as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

Take Cipro by mouth with or without food. The preferred dosing time is 2 hours after a meal.

Take Cipro with a full glass of water (8 oz/240 mL). Drink several extra glasses of water a day, unless otherwise directed by your doctor.

If you also take any products containing magnesium, aluminum, calcium, iron, or zinc (eg, vitamins/minerals, antacids, quinapril); didanosine; sucralfate; or bismuth subsalicylate, do not take them within 6 hours before or 2 hours after taking Cipro . Check with your doctor if you have questions.

If you also take sevelamer, do not take it within 4 hours before or after taking Cipro . Check with your doctor if you have questions. Cipro works best if it is taken at the same time each day.

To clear up your infection completely, take Cipro for the full course of treatment. Keep taking it even if you feel better in a few days.

Avoid taking Cipro with milk or milk products (such as yogurt or calcium-enriched juice) by themselves. However, taking Cipro as part of a full meal that contains milk or milk products is permitted.

Drug Class and Mechanism

Cipro is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to kill sensitive bacteria. It works by stopping the production of essential proteins needed by the bacteria to survive.

Missed Dose

Do not miss any doses. If you miss a dose of Cipro , take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Storage

Ciprofloxacin should be stored at below 86 degrees F.

Customer reviews

Thank you. Thank you for caring. Thank you for thinking of your customers. Thank you for providing an American like myself access to affordable health care. I can't afford this monthly RX where I live in California. My individual health insurance does not cover it. You were the best tip I got last year in regards to health care services. I can't thank you enough.
